On 24 September 2026, the PFASAN Symposium: New Developments in PFAS Remediation will bring together researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders at the University of Vienna to discuss emerging solutions for the management and remediation of PFAS contamination. The event was initiated within the Austrian research project PFASAN and provides a platform for exchanging knowledge on innovative remediation technologies and their practical application.
The programme features presentations on a wide range of topics, including immobilisation strategies, electrochemical degradation technologies, and the potential of microbial degradation for PFAS remediation. Attendees can learn about biochar-based sorbents, in-situ sorption barriers, advanced oxidation processes, pilot-scale groundwater treatment, soil washing applications, and high-throughput screening of PFAS-degrading microbes. International experts from leading universities, research institutes, and industry organisations will share insights from both laboratory studies and field-scale applications.
The symposium will also highlight pilot tests and practical remediation approaches that help evaluate technology performance under real environmental conditions and support future remediation practice.
