New publication in Environmental Science and Technology: "Sorption and Mobility of Charged Organic Compounds: How to Confront and Overcome Limitations in Their Assessment"

News

Gabriel Sigmund from EDGE led this international collaboration on how we can move forward to better assess and predict sorption of charged and ionizable organic compounds (IOC). The Feature will help guide future research and discussions on the complex sorption behavior of IOC, which are a large and diverse group of compounds belonging to many contaminant classes, including pharmaceuticals, pesticides, industrial chemicals, and natural toxins. Mobility of IOC will remain an important open question for contaminant assessment; with IOC making up a majority of the new contaminant class of persistent, mobile, and toxic (PMT) substances, a field Gabriel is also working in.
